Dr Ahmed of the KU Teacher Education Department has recently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland, United States, under his project titled ‘developing resilient youth leadership through transformative active citizenship to preventing and countering violent extremism at higher education institutions in Pakistan.’

He was the recipient of the Higher Education Commission–Government of Pakistan—and the funded project was carried out at the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, University of Maryland.

Sharing his experiences, Dr Ahmed disseminated the major findings, lessons learned, and other deliverables including the production of peer-reviewed co-authored publications, the creation of research and collaboration linkages, the exposure to the research environment and campus climate at the University of Maryland.

He informed the faculty members, PhD scholars, and prospective postdocs about his designed course on ‘active citizenship for positive peacebuilding’ for undergraduate level education and shared that it will be placed before the KU Academic Council for approval after which it would become a part of a curriculum in different disciplines.
