Eric Dane brings his real-life ALS battle to Brilliant Minds

Actor Eric Dane, best known for playing Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and appearing on Euphoria, has made a guest appearance on Brilliant Minds. In the episode, he portrays a firefighter named Matthew who is living with ALS, a diagnosis that mirrors Dane’s own real-life condition, which he revealed publicly earlier this year.

ALS is a progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually leading to loss of muscle control.

In the episode, Matthew is treated by Dr Oliver Wolf, played by Zachary Quinto, as he begins to come to terms with how the condition affects his career, his independence and his relationships with those closest to him.
