WEB DESK: Jamie Lee Curtis may be a Hollywood icon herself, but even Oscar winners have their fan moments. The Everything Everywhere All at Once star revealed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week that she has only ever asked one celebrity for their autograph, and the answer left both her and the audience in stitches.
When Colbert asked Curtis if she had ever asked for someone’s signature, she tried to hold back her laughter before finally collapsing onto his desk. Through fits of giggles, she blurted out: “Urkel.”

The crowd erupted as Curtis confirmed that yes, the one and only Steve Urkel, the beloved sitcom character from Family Matters played by Jaleel White, was the person whose autograph she sought.
Curtis then explained the backstory. At the time, she was with one of her daughters, who was a big fan of the quirky TV character. “I was with my child, and they wanted the autograph,” she said. Always the doting mom, Curtis made the request on their behalf.
The signature, she admitted, still exists all these years later. “It’s in one of my daughter’s scrapbooks,” she told Colbert, clearly amused that her only autograph-getting moment wasn’t with a Hollywood legend but a sitcom star known for suspenders, glasses, and the catchphrase, “Did I do that?”
Colbert applauded her gesture, noting it was a sweet thing to have done for her child. Curtis, without missing a beat, replied with a grin: “I’m a nice mom.”

Jaleel White portrayed Urkel on Family Matters from 1989 to 1998, becoming one of the most recognizable characters in ‘90s television. For Curtis, whose own career spans decades of hits ranging from Halloween to Freaky Friday, the anecdote highlighted a relatable truth: sometimes, even stars go out of their way to make their kids happy, even if it means fangirling for Urkel.
