Asia Cup 2025: Oman-India face off tonight in 12th clash
DUBAI: Indian playing XI chose to bat first after winning toss for the 12th clash of the Asia Cup 2025, aimed at posting a higher target against Oman XI here tonight.
India has already clinched two victories, with the first on September 10 by 9 wickets against the UAE (with 93 balls remaining), and the second on September 14 by 7 wickets against Pakistan (with 25 balls remaining). In contrast, Oman has lost both of their matches, suffering defeats against Pakistan and the UAE respectively.

India clinch 21-run victory, but Oman win hearts
In a gripping day-night encounter, India XI registered another impressive victory over Oman XI. However, it was the men in red who truly captured the hearts of cricket fans with their spirited and fearless performance from start to finish.

Oman XI stunned spectators with a confident start, launching a smart and aggressive chase of the daunting 189-run target. Led by skipper Jatinder Singh and the explosive Aamir Kaleem, the top order took the Indian bowlers by surprise, closing in on the total at a rapid pace. Both batters played attacking strokes, with Kaleem notably sending the ball flying for multiple boundaries and big sixes, energising the entire Omani squad.
Jatinder Singh contributed a steady 32 off 33 balls before being dismissed, laying the foundation for what followed. Enter Hammad Mirza, who partnered with Kaleem to further accelerate the innings. Mirza brought up a quickfire half-century, while Kaleem top-scored for his side with a blistering 64 off just 46 deliveries.

By the 16th over, Oman had reached 127 runs, keeping the contest alive and thrilling until the final overs. Despite falling short, their fearless chase earned admiration from fans and cricket pundits alike. India won the thrilling match by 21 runs in the final over.
Meanwhile, Amir Kaleem was named Most Valuable Player, while Sanju Samson earned the Player of the Match award in the game.

Only two Indian lower-order batters stood out after the top and middle order collapsed unexpectedly. Tilak Varma and the unbeaten Harshit Rana played crucial roles, supporting their side for 42 runs in total. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya could only add 1 run each. Despite the setbacks, India still managed to post a formidable 189-run target against Oman.
