BBL 2025: Renegades claim first win vs Brisbane after posting 212, Tim Seifert shines with 102

GEELONG: The 2nd match of the BBL 2025 ended with a huge applause from the Renegades fans, as the Renegades claimed a stunning victory against the Brisbane Heat, as the Shaheen Shah Afridi featured team couldn’t chase Tim Seifert’s side, who earlier posted a massive 212.
Batting first in the Renegades vs Brisbane, the Shaheens Shah Afridi’s side managed only 198 runs for 8 wickets from 20 overs.
Renegades Batting Line
The Renegades opened their innings after being asked to post a target against Brisbane, which the latter aimed to crush the former soon.
The turned the other way around as the Renegades sent top order Josh Brown and Tim Seifert in the opening, who gave a tougher time to their opponents.
Top order Seifert was able to contain the bowlers and play havoc with his bat, scoring 102 off only 56 balls (featured with 9 fours and 6 sixes). Brown managed 15 before being downed by Xavier Bartlett.
Following him, Mohammad Rizwan came in, who provided only four off 10 balls; however, he had a bad day as he was dismissed by Patrick Doonley, despite his team’s victory against Afridi’s side.
But Oliver Peake stepped in with an aim for a better contribution.
Peake added 57 off 29 balls (featured with six fours and three sixes), increasing the team’s total up to 192 before being downed by Jack Wildernuth.
The following players, Hassan Khan (unbeaten at six-ball 5) and skipper Will Sutherland (undefeated at 2-ball 3), added 8 to 192, making it 200. The team increased their total up to 212 after the Brisbane’s bowlers conceded 12 extras.
Brisbane Batting Line
Chasing the 213-run target, Nathan McSweeney captained the team sent their top order Colin Munro and Jack Wildermuth in the opening.
However, Jack Wildermuth couldn’t stay at the crease as Jason Behrendorff crushed him for a duck, leaving the side under pressure.
Hugh Weibgen, Jimmy Peirson and Colin were the only top scoring batters, with each adding (38 off 20), (50 off 22 deliveries) and (55 off 32 balls), respectively.
Nathan added 9, Matt Renshaw 18, Max Bryant 14, Xavier Bartlett 1, Liam Haskett-not out 2, while Shaheen Shah went for zero.
