ISLAMABAD: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on sexual harassment after former Bangladesh Women’s cricket team captain Jahanara Alam accused officials of misconduct.
Last week, Jahanara Alam alleged that Manjurul Islam, a former selector and team manager of the Bangladesh Women’s team, along with other officials, had sexually harassed her. According to media reports, she described multiple incidents of harassment spanning from 2021 through the 2022 Women’s World Cup. She said these experiences caused significant mental distress, ultimately influencing her decision to step away from national cricket, as reported by the Riasat Azim YouTube channel.

Responding to the allegations, Manjurul Islam denied the claims, calling them “baseless” and asserting that there was no truth to them.
The BCB emphasized that it would act following the conclusion of the relevant investigations. While reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy, BCB official Aminul Islam highlighted the importance of a fair and transparent process for all parties involved.
