PESHAWAR: Three suicide attackers targeted the FC Headquarters in Saddar, Peshawar, early this morning in a meticulously planned assault. One attacker detonated explosives at the main gate, while two others tried to enter the premises firing their weapons, but were shot dead by security forces.

Two suicide jackets and eight hand grenades were recovered from the attackers. Security officials say the attackers are believed to be from Afghanistan.

The attack claimed the lives of three FC personnel: Havaldar Alamzeb of Platoon 277, Sepoy Riyasat of Platoon 478, and Sepoy Altaf of Platoon 277. Four others were injured and shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH). Injured personnel include Lance Naik Zik from Platoon 277, Sepoy Arshad from BDS, and Sepoys Attaullah and Irfan from Platoon 147. Hospital sources confirmed that all injured are in stable condition.

The assault was foiled by the prompt action of FC commandos and police officers, preventing further loss of life. A clearance operation at the headquarters is ongoing, and the area remains under tight security.

IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed the incident, saying armoured vehicles had been deployed to secure the premises. He added that explosions occurred at the main gate and near the motorcycle stand, while the two attackers inside were neutralised.

Rescue 1122 teams responded immediately, dispatching six ambulances, a fire vehicle, a disaster vehicle, and more than 50 personnel. Nearby roads, including Kohat Road, were sealed off, and BRT services were temporarily suspended to ensure public safety. SP Cantt said law enforcement, elite forces, and other security personnel were deployed promptly to manage the situation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, lauding the swift response of security forces. He directed authorities to ensure urgent medical care for the injured and vowed that the government would bring the perpetrators to justice. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and safeguarding the nation’s security and integrity.
