LAHORE: In a major step towards public safety, every citizen in Punjab can now use their mobile phone as a live camera for the Safe City network. Under the Chief Minister’s “Safe Punjab” vision, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a new feature aimed at enhancing security and reducing emergency response times.

The initiative allows citizens to share real-time video evidence of critical incidents directly with the Safe City control room. The PSCA has integrated a “Connect to PSCA” feature into its Public Safety App, enabling users to link their mobile cameras to the control room instantly.

Through this feature, citizens can provide live video footage during emergencies, allowing authorities to assess situations promptly. According to a Safe City spokesperson, when a citizen calls the emergency helpline 15, officers will send a special live feed link to the caller. Opening the link connects the mobile camera directly to the Safe City control room, giving officials a real-time view of the scene and enabling rapid response.

The spokesperson said that this service is strictly for emergencies. Citizens are requested to keep their mobile location services on to ensure accurate identification of the incident site. They were also advised not to share unnecessary videos, as the feature is intended solely to provide timely help and support prompt action.
