Donald Trump Jr. has announced his engagement to Bettina Anderson following a surprise moment at a White House event, confirming the next chapter in the couple’s year-long relationship.

The eldest son of US President Donald Trump revealed the news during a Christmas reception at the White House on Monday, December 15. Video footage later showed President Trump announcing the engagement to guests before inviting the couple forward.

Trump Jr. thanked Anderson publicly for accepting his proposal, admitting he had been nervous about asking the question.

“When you go down there, you’re trying to ask and you’re not sure what the answer’s going to be,” he said. “It’s always a little bit rough. But she said yes, which is a big win for the end of the year.”

Anderson also briefly addressed the audience, saying she felt “like the luckiest girl in the world” and was excited to marry “the love of her life”.

Who is Bettina Anderson?

Bettina Anderson is a model and Palm Beach socialite who comes from a prominent philanthropic family. She is the daughter of Harry Loy Anderson Jr. and Inger Anderson and has been a regular presence in Florida social circles.

Trump Jr. and Anderson began dating in 2024, around the time his engagement to former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle came to an end. Guilfoyle is now serving as the US ambassador to Greece.

The couple have largely kept their relationship low-key but have been photographed together at events in Palm Beach and were first publicly spotted as a couple last summer. In recent days, Anderson had been seen wearing a large diamond ring, fuelling speculation about an engagement before it was confirmed.

Trump Jr., a senior executive at the Trump Organization and a prominent Republican figure, was previously married to Vanessa Trump. The former couple married in 2005 and share five children together. They divorced in 2018.

A spokesperson for Trump Jr. has confirmed the engagement. Neither he nor Anderson has released a separate statement beyond the White House announcement.
