Three dead as Bangladesh shaken by earthquake of 5.7 magnitude

WEB DESK: A magnitude 5.7 earthquake jolted Bangladesh on Friday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), with the epicentre recorded 10 kilometres deep. Tremors were also felt across neighbouring Indian states bordering the country. According to police in Bangladesh three people have reportedly died after a five-storey building collapsed.

The US Geological Survey placed the epicentre near Narsingdi, roughly 40 kilometres east of Dhaka.

In the capital, startled residents rushed out of their homes as buildings swayed and several makeshift structures collapsed, witnesses said.
