DUBAI: Pakistan Under-19 head coach Shahid Anwer praised his team’s emphatic victory over the India Under-19 cricket team in the Under-19 Asia Cup final on Sunday, crediting a “fearless, not careless” mindset for the triumph.

The Pakistan Under-19 cricket team delivered a commanding performance in the final held in Dubai, outclassing their arch-rivals as the Indian bowlers struggled to contain the relentless Pakistani batting.

The highlight of the match was a breathtaking innings from top-order batter Sameer Minhas, who produced a sublime 172 off 113 balls, laced with 17 boundaries and nine towering sixes. His outstanding knock earned him the Player of the Match award and set the tone for Pakistan’s dominant display.

Reflecting on his innings, Minhas echoed his coach’s philosophy. “We were told to play fearless cricket,” he said, underlining the clarity and confidence instilled by the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a cash reward of Rs10 million for each member of the national Under-19 squad in recognition of their remarkable achievement, further celebrating Pakistan’s success on the continental stage.
