Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts announces pregnancy with first child

Nicola Roberts has revealed she is expecting her first child.

The Girls Aloud singer shared the news on Instagram, confirming she is five months pregnant and is expecting a baby with her partner, footballer Mitch Hahn, in the spring.

In a series of festive photos shared on Christmas Day, Roberts, 40, is seen cradling her baby bump in front of a Christmas tree. “Mitch and I have had the most magical Christmas Day sharing the most precious news with our families,” she wrote, adding that the couple had been “keeping a secret”.

The announcement was quickly met with messages of support from fellow celebrities. Bandmate Kimberley Walsh called it the “best news ever”, while Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, who is expecting her second child, wrote: “The best news. Congratulations beautiful!” Comedian Alan Carr also shared his congratulations.

Roberts reunited with Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Walsh last year for Girls Aloud’s first UK and Ireland arena tour in more than a decade. The shows were dedicated to bandmate Sarah Harding, who died from cancer in 2021 aged 39.

The group formed in 2002 after winning Popstars: The Rivals, and 2024 marked 21 years since their debut. Alongside her music career, Roberts has also worked extensively in theatre and is currently starring as Persephone in the West End production of Hadestown, with her run set to conclude in January.
