Oklahoma health officials have announced a recall involving thousands of gallons of salad dressings and condiments distributed to grocery stores and food service locations.

According to the Oklahoma County Health Department, the recall has been classified as a Class II action and involves multiple dressing varieties produced by Ventura Foods LLC. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said the affected products may contain fragments of black plastic planting material, which could pose temporary or medically reversible health risks if consumed.

The recalled items were shipped to delis, cafeterias and retail stores across 27 states, Oklahoma among them. Officials are urging consumers and food service operators to check their inventory carefully.

Products included in the recall range from Italian and Caesar dressings to ranch and specialty dips. Among those affected are gallon-sized containers of Italian Salad Dressing, Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip, Pepper Mill Caesar Dressings, Ventura Caesar Dressing in bulk packaging, and Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch. Certain Caesar dressing products supplied to Costco service delis and food courts are also part of the recall.

Health authorities have advised anyone who has purchased or received the affected dressings not to consume them. Consumers should either discard the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall so far, but officials say the action was taken as a precaution to protect public health.
