ISLAMABAD: Content delivery network Cloudflare said that they are working on restoring internet services that were worldwide disrupted on Tuesday.

Disruptions in internet access were widely reported today, as the domain name server service Cloudflare said  experiencing issues in its global network.

“We have made changes that have allowed Cloudflare Access and WARP to recover. Error levels for Access and WARP users have returned to pre-incident rates. We have re-enabled WARP access in London. We are continuing to work towards restoring other services.”

Earlier, the DNS said was aware of the problems that was making difficult for users to view or respond to support tickets. The Downdetector said that out of the globally affected internet users 72 per cent faced issues with applications, 22 per cent with websites access and 6 per cent with server connection.

According to outage‑monitoring platform Downdetector, thousands of reports came in for services reliant on Cloudflare. Among the most impacted was X (formerly Twitter), which saw over 11,500 problem reports as of early morning ET, with users currently searching please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed, and others “please unblock cloudflare challenges”.

Global internet watchdog NetBlocks echoed Cloudflare’s assessment, stating that the disruptions are due to a technical issue within Cloudflare’s network rather than any form of deliberate internet filtering or blocking.

Cloudflare said in its statement that it is working closely with its third-party provider to assess the full damage and restore services. “Further detail will be provided as more information becomes available,” the company added.

As of now, the company has not confirmed whether the issue is tied to an external attack or just an internal misconfiguration. Users of affected websites are being advised to stay tuned for updates.
