Junaid Safdar’s wedding dates announced

LAHORE: The wedding dates of Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have been revealed.

Junaid Safdar is set to marry Shanzay Sheikh, the granddaughter of senior PML-N leader Sheikh Ruhail Asghar.

The celebrations are scheduled for January 16, 17 and 18, with the Mehndi and Walima ceremonies to be held at the Sharifs’ family residence in Jati Umrah, Lahore.

According to Sheikh Ruhail Asghar, the marriage proposal was brought by Maryam Nawaz along with her elder daughter and son-in-law, and the families finalised the arrangements about two months ago.

He said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif hosted the bride’s family, and discussions regarding the wedding were conducted with both families present.

The bride and groom’s families share close ties, with Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Maah Noor being a close friend of Shanzay Sheikh.

Asghar said that only close relatives will be invited to the wedding ceremonies.

The announcement comes after Junaid Safdar confirmed his divorce from Ayesha Saifur Rehman Khan in October 2023.

The couple had married in August 2021 with ceremonies held in London and Pakistan, but their marriage was largely kept private.

Following the divorce, Junaid Safdar requested privacy for both families and wished his former wife well.
