Kasur: Indian national arrested for crossing into Pakistan

WEB DESK: An Indian national was arrested after illegally crossing into Pakistani territory near the border district of Kasur, officials said on Saturday.

According to police, the arrest took place in the jurisdiction of Ganda Singh police station at the Sehajra area, where personnel of the Pakistan Rangers detained the man for violating the international border. Ranger Nasir apprehended the suspect, identified as Sharandeep Singh, son of Satnam Singh, after he crossed from India into Pakistan.

Authorities said the detained individual is a resident of Pui Pur village, Shahkot tehsil, in Jalandhar district, India. Following initial questioning and documentation by the Rangers, Sharandeep Singh was handed over to the local police for further legal proceedings.

Police officials said an investigation is under way to determine the circumstances of the border crossing and whether it was accidental or deliberate. Further action will be taken in accordance with the law, they added.
