A container ship caught fire at the Port of Los Angeles on Friday evening, prompting a massive response from more than 100 firefighters. The blaze, sparked by an electrical fault mid-deck, disrupted power and crane operations at the busy San Pedro port.

Fire crews, fully encapsulated with self-contained breathing apparatus, battled flames in sections containing hazardous materials. By 8:27 pm, the final five crew members were safely evacuated, and all crew were eventually accounted for with no reported injuries.

Mayor Karen Bass confirmed first responders remain on site, working to fully suppress the fire and secure the vessel.
