The Arif Habib Group, a leading business conglomerate, has announced that PIA’s privatisation has been completed transparently, paving the way for fresh investment in the national airline.
After acquiring 75 per cent of PIA’s shares for PKR13.5 billion, the group stated that the investment will enable the airline to provide better services to its customers.
The Arif Habib Group emphasised that transparent privatisation will boost foreign investor confidence and restore PIA’s reputation, renewing trust among both the public and investors.
“Today, Pakistan has won. PIA’s good days are back. New investment opportunities will open, and jobs will be created,” said the Arif Habib Group.
The move is seen as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to attract private sector investment, strengthen its national carriers, and create sustainable employment opportunities across the aviation sector.
According to a report, Pakistan currently owns a total of 33 PIA aircraft, of which only 22 are operational, with around 6,500 employees managing the fleet. Founded in 1955, the national airline serves up to 97 destinations across domestic and international routes.
