The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will run from March 26 to May 3, 2026, as the tournament enters a new phase with eight teams and an overhauled two-stage competition format designed to intensify competition within a 39-day schedule.
Under the revised structure, the opening phase will be played on a single-league basis, with all eight teams facing each other once. This opening round aims to provide a level playing field, ensuring uniform exposure and fair competition before the league moves into its decisive stage.
The second phase will adopt a Super Four-style format, dividing the eight teams into two groups of four. Each side will contest three matches in this round, producing 12 high-stakes fixtures as teams battle for a place in the playoffs.
Only the top two teams from this phase will advance to the playoffs, where four knockout matches, including the final, will determine the PSL 2026 champions.
Despite expanding from six to eight franchises, tournament organizers have retained competitive balance by guaranteeing at least 10 matches per team, aligning with the league’s traditional structure.
Launched in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018, the PSL’s move to eight franchises represents another significant milestone, reinforcing the league’s evolution as it prepares for a more competitive and expanded future in 2026.
The 2026 season will be staged across Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, with Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad set to host PSL matches for the first time, marking a historic addition to the tournament’s venue list.
