ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani showbiz star Saba Qamar Zaman has once again made headlines — but this time not because of a new drama or film. Instead, it is due to a legal petition filed against her, to which the actress has responded with sarcasm and humour.
A petition has been submitted in a Lahore sessions court against Saba Qamar, alleging that she wore a police uniform without official permission.
The issue gained traction after a video began circulating on social media showing the actress wearing an SP (Superintendent of Police) uniform inside a dressing room.
As soon as the video surfaced, questions were raised from various quarters and debate ensued.
Amid this controversy, Saba Qamar reshared an Instagram post by Diva Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Raheel Rao, who strongly defended the actress.
In his statement, Rao sarcastically asked whether, if an actor is playing the role of a police officer, people expect them to appear in a bridal dress or a lawn suit. He said characters always dress according to the story and script, not according to someone’s imaginary expectations.
Responding to this, Saba Qamar also chose not to remain silent and reacted humorously. Posting on her Instagram story, she wrote, “Oh God! Seems like I’ve become too famous these days,” adding smiling emojis, which many social media users found quite amusing.
It is worth mentioning that the petition has been filed by lawyer Aftab Bajwa on behalf of citizen Waseem Zawar.
The petitioner maintains that under the law no individual is allowed to wear a police uniform or use the SP rank badge without official permission.
Legal proceedings in the case have now begun, while Saba Qamar’s sarcastic response continues to attract attention across social media.
