Suparco forecasts Rajab moon sighting

ISLAMABAD: The first day of Rajab al-Murajjab 1447 Hijri is expected to fall on 22 December 2025, Suparco predicted today.

According to SUPARCO, the new moon of Rajab al-Murajjab will be born on 20 December 2025 at 6:43 AM. Astronomical calculations show that by sunset on 21 December, the moon will be 35 hours and 26 minutes old.

In coastal areas, the gap between sunset and moonset is expected to be about 63 minutes, giving a good chance for the moon to be sighted with the naked eye on the evening of 21 December.

Based on these calculations, 22 December 2025 is expected to be the first day of Rajab al-Murajjab. The final confirmation will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, based on moon sighting reports from across the country.
