CALIFORNIA: Microsoft Copilot has gone down across the UK and Europe after a sudden surge in traffic caused a major outage.
Microsoft said an unexpected increase in traffic led to Copilot its AI assistant used for tasks like data analysis going offline or working poorly for a large number of users
The company explained that it is investigating an issue where users in the UK may be unable to access Microsoft Copilot or may experience reduced functionality
It also said the problem appears to affect anyone in the UK or Europe trying to use the service and early monitoring suggests the traffic spike is the cause
More than 1000 people reported problems on DownDetector soon after the outage began, and many users saw the system switching on and off while showing messages such as Well that was not supposed to happen and Sorry I was not able to respond to that.
Some users also received a notice saying it could not connect to Microsofts servers.
Microsoft says it is still investigating the issue to determine what needs to happen next.
