WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met the victorious Pakistan Under-19 cricket team and congratulated the players and management on their emphatic win against India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final.

The prime minister hosted a special luncheon in honour of the title-winning squad in Islamabad, which was also attended by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and several federal ministers. During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif praised the team’s outstanding performance, describing the victory as a moment of immense pride for the nation.

Addressing the players, the prime minister said the Under-19 team had lifted the nation’s spirits by securing such a commanding win, adding that the margin of victory reflected the players’ hard work, discipline and commitment. He noted that the triumph was the result of collective efforts by the players, team management and supporting staff.

Shehbaz Sharif paid special tribute to match-winner Sameer Ahmed Minhas for his exceptional performance in the final, applauding his composure and match-winning innings under pressure. He also commended PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, along with the coaching staff and management, for their role in preparing the team for the tournament.

The prime minister encouraged the young cricketers to continue working hard and carry this momentum forward in future international assignments, expressing confidence that they represent a bright future for Pakistan cricket.
