WEB DESK: MG Pakistan has formally entered the competitive electric hatchback segment with the official launch of its Binguo EV. The company announced the vehicle’s pricing and specifications through its social media channels, positioning it as a modern, city-centric electric vehicle (EV) for the Pakistani market.
Powertrain and Performance
At its core, the Binguo EV is equipped with a 31.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, known for its stability and longevity. This powers an electric motor generating 67 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque, delivering adequate power for urban environments. MG claims a WLTP-rated driving range of 273 kilometers on a single charge, aiming to alleviate range anxiety for daily commuters.
Charging and Practicality
The vehicle supports flexible charging options to cater to different needs. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can replenish from 30% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes. For overnight charging, a standard AC connection will take about 5.5 hours to charge from 20% to full capacity.
Design and Features
As a compact hatchback, the Binguo EV measures 3,950 mm in length with a 2,560 mm wheelbase. It rides on 15-inch steel wheels and features modern LED lighting at the front and rear. Inside, the cabin is centered around a 10.25-inch LCD infotainment display, which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration and is complemented by a four-speaker audio system.
Safety and Driver Assists
Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and a rear parking camera coupled with sensors to aid in maneuvering.
Market Position and Price
With an ex-showroom price tag of PKR 5,999,000, the Binguo EV enters Pakistan’s evolving EV landscape as a fully-imported contender. It seeks to attract urban buyers looking for an efficient, feature-packed electric hatchback with the backing of an established international brand’s local presence.
