Why did Rolling Stones call off 2026 tour of US and Europe?

NEW YORK: Fans in the US and Europe flooded social media platforms, eagerly searching for updates about the long-awaited English rock band The Rolling Stones.

According to a source close to The Rolling Stones, speaking to Variety, famed guitarist Keith Richards was unable to commit to both the US and European events.

While it was never officially shared with fans, touring pianist Chuck Leavell and a spokesperson for The Rolling Stones also briefed the UK press about a new album.

They said the band has nearly completed a new album, which will be their second collaboration with 35-year-old producer Andrew Watt, and that they are planning a tour of the UK and Europe with The Rolling Stones.

However, 82-year-old Keith Richards is said to be unable to commit to the rigors of another tour.

Based on recent live dates, Keith Richards has faced challenges stemming from a long battle with arthritis, which he has described as “benign” and said has forced him to adapt his playing style.

The Rolling Stones are known for songs such as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Paint It Black,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Angie,” “Brown Sugar,” “Start Me Up,” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
