WEB DESK: The World Bank has announced USD1.35 billion in financial assistance for Pakistan, aimed at supporting the country’s economic stability and development priorities, Reuters reported on Saturday.
According to the World Bank, the funding will be provided under its Multi-Partner Assistance (MPA) programme, a framework designed to support countries facing economic stress while advancing long-term reforms. The assistance is expected to help Pakistan strengthen macroeconomic stability and continue key development initiatives.
World Bank officials said the financing will be directed toward measures that promote economic recovery, improve resilience, and support critical development projects at a time when Pakistan continues to face fiscal pressures and external financing needs.
The announcement comes as Pakistan works to stabilise its economy amid inflationary pressures, balance-of-payments challenges, and ongoing structural reforms. The World Bank’s support is expected to complement other international financing efforts and provide relief to the government as it pursues growth-oriented and reform-driven policies.
The World Bank has been a longstanding development partner of Pakistan, providing financial and technical assistance across sectors including infrastructure, social protection, energy, and climate resilience.
