Yasir Nawaz’s brother Waqar Nawaz laid to rest

KARACHI: Actor, producer and director Yasir Nawaz’s brother Waqar Nawaz has been laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon.

Yasir Nawaz announced his passing on social media in a heart-breaking post, describing his late brother as a kind and loving soul.

In his Instagram story, he also tagged his brothers Danish Nawaz and Faraz Nawaz, and requested fans for prayers for his late brother.

“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and give patience and strength to his family grant,” Yasir wrote in his Instagram story.

Yasir’s wife, television host Nida Yasir, also paid tribute on Instagram, sharing a photo of Waqar Nawaz and writing, “He wasn’t just my brother-in-law, he was like a brother.”

Waqar Nawaz’s funeral prayers were offered at Rehmania Masjid, Tariq Road, Karachi. He was one of the four sons of Fareed Nawaz Baloch, a veteran actor known for his remarkable television and film career. He performed in more than 100 TV plays as well as in two films.

Waqar Nawaz was reportedly very close to his siblings, Danish Nawaz, Yasir Nawaz and Dr Faraz. They also have a sister, Anzala. However, little is known about Waqar Nawaz’s spouse and children.

Yasir Nawaz did not share the cause of his brother’s death but Waqar’s passing prompted an outpouring of grief and support from the entertainment fraternity and fans alike.

Fans extended condolences and showed support to one of the most loved couples of the Pakistani entertainment industry – Nidar Yasir and Yasir Nawaz. Both had started their careers as actors and models but later started exploring other endeavours in the entertainment industry.

After earning laurels in acting and modelling, Yasir Nawaz moved to direction and production of television dramas while his wife – who is the daughter of TV directors and producers Kazim Pasha and Fehmida Nasreen – started working as morning show host.
