ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commemorated Navy Day with a heartfelt message honoring the valor, dedication, and historic achievements of the Pakistan Navy, particularly during the 1965 war.

“Navy Day is a day to pay tribute to the great sacrifices and unparalleled achievements of the brave sons of the Pakistan Navy,” said Naqvi in his statement. He highlighted the significance of September 8, when in 1965 the Pakistan Navy made history by defending the nation’s maritime borders with exceptional courage and professionalism.

Minister Naqvi praised the role of naval veterans, calling them “the heroes of the nation” who created a new chapter of bravery and sacrifice on the seas. He called Navy Day “a shining symbol of bravery, professionalism and duty,” while reiterating the importance of remembering the events that shaped Pakistan’s naval history.

He made special mention of Operation Dwarka, describing it as a “brilliant chapter in naval history.” In this operation during the 1965 war, the Pakistan Navy destroyed key Indian coastal installations and thwarted an enemy plan to attack Karachi, thereby reshaping the naval battle in Pakistan’s favor.

“After Operation Dwarka, the Navy remained alert and the enemy did not dare to attack Karachi again,” Naqvi noted. He added that the Pakistan Navy had surprised adversaries with its professional preparedness and unyielding spirit. The Interior Minister said that Navy Day is more than a historic commemoration, calling it “a continuation of that commitment, that spirit, and that belief that grew in the vastness of the sea.”

Speaking on the modern-day capabilities of the naval force, Naqvi said the Pakistan Navy has evolved into a “strong and effective naval force equipped with modern technology, advanced missile systems, and a doctrine of self-reliance.” He further noted its active participation in international naval exercises, its leading role in regional maritime security, and diplomatic contributions as marks of pride for the nation.
