ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja from outside the court premises.
Raja Basharat appeared before the election tribunal in Rawalpindi on Thursday for a hearing in the NA-55 case, accompanied by his lawyer, Sardar Abdul Razzaq Advocate. As soon as they exited the court, police surrounded his vehicle and took him into custody.
According to sources, he has been shifted to the New Town police station in Islamabad. His lawyer claimed that Raja Basharat was on bail in all ongoing cases and that police were shown the bail documents, but still proceeded with the arrest.

Speaking to the media, Basharat said, “I have confirmed bail in all cases. These cheap tactics won’t intimidate me.”
His legal team also reached the New Town police station with the bail papers. Police officials said they had orders to arrest him and advised the lawyers to speak to senior officers at the station.
It is worth mentioning that Raja Basharat is a prominent PTI figure and has remained active in the party’s legal matters in recent weeks.
