Suction machines on high alert across Karachi’s major roads

KARACHI: In a proactive move to tackle potential waterlogging issues, the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Engineer Asadullah Khan said that suction machines and other crucial machinery has been dispatched to key areas across Karachi.

This strategic deployment comes amidst concerns of heavy rainfall and the subsequent risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

Under the supervision of Engineer Asadullah, KW&SB and other concerned authorities, these suction machines have been strategically stationed at critical points including major highways, and prominent landmarks such as the Metropole Hotel, Chief Minister House, Governor House, and Merewether Clock Tower, among others.

Furthermore, the COO has directed special attention towards areas prone to water accumulation, including Bilawal Chowrangi, Jinnah Airport vicinity, PC Hotel, 26 Street, Jinnah Hospital, Nursery, Gora Qabaristan, Baloch Colony, and the FTC Flyover.

Residents and commuters can expect Water Corporation vehicles and staff to remain on standby until the water has been effectively drained, ensuring minimal disruption and inconvenience during adverse weather conditions.

This measure aims to mitigate the impact of potential flooding. Other locations where the suction machines have been deployed include University Road, Sharae-e-Quaideen, and MA Jinnah Road.
