Hardie has been a regular presence in Australia’s white-ball squads throughout 2025, though he has played only a handful of matches this year.
Known initially for his batting in domestic cricket, the 26-year-old made his mark at the international level mainly for his bowling.
The all-rounder often bowls at the start of innings, using swing to challenge the opposing batters early on.
Despite his talent, Aaron Hardie has often found himself on the sidelines and spent an entire IPL season without taking the field.

Hardie’s inclusion is a response to setbacks in Australia’s pace and all-rounder players. Mitchell Owen was ruled out after suffering a concussion in a recent T20 match, while Matt Short is facing ongoing fitness issues.
Aaron Hardie is joined by experienced spinner Adam Zampa. Australia faces a tough challenge against a strong South African squad. The ODI series will be played in Cairns and Mackay.
