Pakistan awarded hosting rights for another ICC event

LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. This comes at the heels of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy starting from February 19 in Karachi.

After the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan will also host the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers this year, scheduled to be held in multiple cities. The qualifiers matches will begin from April 2025.

Tri-nation series: Pakistan announces playing XI against South Africa

Six teams, including Pakistan, will participate in the qualifiers matches. These include teams from Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Thailand.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing tri-nation cricket series, Pakistan and South Africa will clash today at the National Stadium Karachi. This is the second match for both the teams. Prior to this, both Pakistan and South Africa have played one game each against New Zealand. Both games were won by New Zealand.

The third match of the series, happening today, will be a day-night match and has assumed the importance of a semi-final. The winner of today’s game will play the final with New Zealand on February 14.

Fast bowler Haris Rauf will not participate in the remaining matches of the tri-series due to injury. Akif Javed has been included in the Pakistan cricket team’s squad for the tri-series.
